The Golden Hour Method is a thoughtfully designed wellness approach that supports happiness, connection, cognitive health, and longevity. It is built on the understanding that living well as we age requires more than exercise alone — it requires movement, breath, purpose, and community, all working together.

At Golden Hour, we focus on creating an experience that feels welcoming, calming, and empowering, while supporting both physical and mental well-being.

What is The Golden Hour Method

The Golden Hour Method is a structured, repeatable, and evidence-informed approach that blends:

 

  • Gentle physical movement

  • Breathwork and nervous system regulation

  • Cognitive engagement

  • Social connection and reflection

Each session is intentionally designed to help participants leave feeling calmer, more connected, and more confident in their bodies and minds.

Golden Hour Structure 

Every Golden Hour session follows a familiar, comforting rhythm:

1. Warm Welcome & Social Hello

We begin with a brief social check-in, offering time to greet one another, connect, and arrive together. This moment sets the tone for community and belonging.

 

2. Breathwork Opener 

Each session opens with gentle breathwork to calm the nervous system, improve focus, and prepare both body and mind for movement.

This helps participants feel grounded, relaxed, and present.

 

3. Golden Hour Movement Component

The physical portion of the class focuses on:

  • Gentle strength

  • Mobility and flexibility

  • Balance and functional movement

  • Golden Chi

Movements are senior-friendly, adaptable, and supportive, with chair-based and standing options available. The goal is not intensity, but confidence, comfort, and consistency.

 

4. Breathwork & Mindful Cool-Down 

Following movement, we transition into a longer breathwork and cool-down period. This phase is designed to:

  • Ease the mind

  • Reduce stress

  • Support recovery

  • Encourage relaxation

Participants often describe this as their favourite part of class — a chance to truly unwind.

 

5. Golden Gab & Cognitive Connection

Golden Gab & Grin is our signature social and cognitive component. During this time, participants:

  • Socialize and connect

  • Cognitive Brain Games [Conversation/memory prompts, puzzles, bingo]

  • Reflect on class takeaways

  • Share goals for the coming week

  • Engage in light cognitive activities to keep the brain sharp

This portion reinforces purpose, accountability, and emotional well-being.

Cognitive Wellness Beyond the Class

In addition to the cognitive elements built into each session, Golden Hour offers:

  • A weekly cognitive health add-on, featuring guided activities designed to support memory, attention, and mental engagement

  • Monthly social gatherings, often including a light physical activity such as a trail walk or outdoor experience, combined with meaningful social connection

These experiences strengthen community while supporting both brain and body health.

Tracking Progress & Staying Engaged 

Participants leave Golden Hour with:

  • Journal prompts to encourage reflection and mindfulness

  • A progress sheet to gently track improvements in movement, confidence, and well-being over time

Progress at Golden Hour is never about perfection — it’s about noticing positive changes, however small.
